Our client is a leading professional consulting services and legal services institution based in the heart of the Financial District of Downtown Toronto. Job Overview

Reporting to a member of the Senior Management team, this role will lead a team responsible for managing revenue, billing, and accounts receivable processes. The Manager will ensure the efficient handling of bills and collections to support the revenue-to-cash cycle and monitor the Firm’s Work in Progress (WIP). Building strong relationships with the firm’s Partners to enhance revenue, billing, and accounts receivable management to streamline operations is essential.

Key Responsibilities
Billing and Accounts Receivable:
  • Manage the Firm’s collections procedures.
  • Supervise the billing and payment processes.
  • Track non-payments, late payments, and other discrepancies.
  • Prepare records and follow-up on overdue payments.
  • Ensure timely billing of WIP.
  • Review aged and uncollectible balances, collaborating with Partners on action plans and provisions.
  • Act on accounts overdue by more than 30 days to reduce collection periods.
Client Relations:
  • Address client concerns regarding outstanding accounts, disputes, and billing discrepancies.
  • Respond to credit inquiries from both external and internal clients.
  • Identify high-risk clients and work with management to mitigate exposure.
  • Communicate with clients to resolve payment issues, suggest payment options, and escalate unresolved matters as needed.
  • Coordinate with third-party collection agencies when necessary.
Reporting, Analytics, and Innovation:
  • Gather insights into lawyers’ practices and billing cycles, continuously seeking ways to enhance and develop top-tier processes.

Requirements
  • CPA or near-designated, or equivalent education/experience
  • Ideal preference for those experienced within professional services
  • Prior training or leadership/supervisory experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to identify and lead/own process improvements
