Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Assistant to support our litigation team. This role is crucial in providing comprehensive legal assistance for litigation engagements, ensuring the efficient management of cases, and supporting our clients throughout the litigation process. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner Group, the successful candidate will contribute to the firm’s success by ensuring seamless case management and client support.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court-related documents.
  • Manage and maintain litigation files, ensuring all documents are organized and easily accessible.
  • Coordinate and schedule court appearances, depositions, and meetings related to litigation cases.
  • Communicate with clients, providing updates on case progress and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
  • Conduct legal research to support attorneys in case preparation and strategy development.
  • Assist in the discovery process, including the collection, review, and production of documents and evidence.
  • Prepare and organize materials for trial, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
  • Monitor case deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to the litigation team, including managing calendars, arranging travel, and handling correspondence.
  • Assist in managing the lifecycle of litigation cases, including initiation, discovery, trial preparation, and post-trial activities.
  • Coordinate the production of documents and evidence for discovery, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and deadlines.
  • Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings related to litigation cases.
  • Assist with tracking billable hours and preparing invoices for litigation cases, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Assist in preparing settlement agreements, releases, and other documents related to the resolution of litigation cases.
  • Act as a liaison between the firm and court personnel, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on case progress and addressing any concerns or questions.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in legal administration, paralegal studies, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a legal assistant or in a similar role, preferably in a corporate legal setting.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, documents, and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal management software.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
