About the Role

This role involves taking ownership of financial statement preparation, management reporting packages, and treasury processes for multiple real estate initiatives under development. You will receive training in your initial weeks, gradually taking on assignments within these areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Statements: Take ownership of financial statement preparation, management reporting packages, budgeting, and forecasting processes for one to five major real estate developments. Lead and prepare monthly and year-end financial statements.
  • Treasury: Prepare monthly financial draw packages, ensure effective communication with construction teams and third-party consultants for timely funding. Manage monthly cash flows, account reconciliations, project cash management, and ensure project funding availability. Sign off on bank reconciliations, HST filings, and internal documentation.
  • Reporting & Financial Analysis: Prepare monthly management discussion and analysis (MD&A) packages, conduct financial analysis, and present verbal and written commentary.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Review budgets and forecasts, identify potential cost savings, and collaborate with management and construction teams. Prepare pro-forma reports, evaluate financial performance, and recommend actions for project completion.
  • Legal & Administrative: Verify and reconcile construction contracts, customizations, and upgrade verifications.
  • Business Partnering: Support team members and other departments as required.
  • Corporate & Indirect Tax: Assist with corporate income tax forecasting and budgeting.
  • External Audit: Participate in and lead the external audit process, addressing queries as needed.
  • Special Projects: Contribute to various ad-hoc projects, including training new hires, supervising junior staff, and process/system enhancements focused on data visualization and automation. Help create structures for new business accounting and drive improvements in financial reporting processes.
  • Internal Control: Implement and monitor internal controls across critical processes, ensuring adherence and efficiency within the internal control framework.
About the Candidate
  • CPA designation required
  • Preference for candidates with real estate industry experience or strong interest in this field
  • Experience in real estate development or a background in a Big 6 firm is highly desired
  • Strong communication skills
  • Full-time, in-office work (5 days per week) required
