About the Client

    A leading provider of global real estate services is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of financial management services related to client agreements.

    About the Role

      This role will be leading a team and performing financial statement compilation, financial planning and analysis, providing decision support on complex contractual and financial matters. The Controller will be a strategic business partner to both internal and external stakeholders of our company. This role is for a leader looking to be a client facing / external representative of the relationships within your portfolio.

      About the role
      • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
      • Oversee internal and external financial reporting
      • Review and present annual plans and quarterly forecasts to various stakeholders
      • Analyze complex financial data and provide recommendations to both internal and external parties
      • Offer guidance on intricate accounting matters when needed
      • Manage full-cycle accounting for various portfolios
      • Ensure adherence to and implementation of accounting policies
      • Align business processes with accounting policies
      • Develop a thorough understanding of IFRS/GAAP and relevant compliance requirements
      • Propose policy changes in line with evolving accounting standards
      • Lead internal and external audits, ensuring a robust financial control framework
      • Possess a deep understanding of accounting systems and modules for specific portfolios
      • Coordinate and oversee complex system setups, recommending technological enhancements
      • Identify and resolve system gaps proactively, anticipating changing requirements
      • Manage complex or multiple portfolios with a comprehensive understanding of transactions
      • Act as a strategic partner for stakeholders, making operational decisions and recommendations
      • Lead the implementation of management decisions
      • Ensure timely and efficient delivery of financial contract obligations
      • Interpret and maintain adherence to contract terms and conditions for assigned accounts
      • Monitor performance forecasts and assist in recovery plans when necessary
      • Understand and ensure compliance with complex business processes, maintaining appropriate documentation
      • Conduct root cause analysis on process gaps and implement improvements within assigned portfolio
      • Draft policies and procedures, identifying areas for improvement proactively
      • Proactively identify and resolve intricate business issues or discrepancies, escalating to management when necessary
      • Gain a high level of industry and business understanding, answering intermediate questions about general business
      • Cultivate relationships with operational counterparts, earning trust as a valued business partner
      • Oversee all aspects of team performance
      • Actively participate in talent recruitment
      • Mentor, coach, and guide team members toward success
      • Recommend compensation adjustments objectively
      About the candidate
      • University graduate with a minimum of 10 years relevant work experience
      • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CPA, CMA, or CGA)
      • Deep understanding of accounting systems and operational system interdependencies
      • Proficiency with computer applications (Excel, Oracle ERP, PowerPoint)
      • Strong attention to detail, ability to work well under pressure, and adjust to competing priorities
      • Excellent communication and presentation skills
      • Ability to motivate, develop, and manage staff
      • Solid management/supervisory-related experience
      • Well-developed client management and relationship skills
      • Fully developed leadership skills to manage a team of individual contributors and influence peers
