Our client is a North American based mining company that is publicly traded.
About the Role
The Senior Financial Analyst of Financial Planning & Analysis will play an instrumental role in both short and long-term financial planning for the company. Key responsibilities include active involvement in forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning processes, preparation of consolidated annual budgets, maintenance of corporate models, and provision of financial analyses for the executive team. Additional tasks will include assisting in the preparation of MD&A and other ad-hoc projects.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business units (BUs) to supervise the preparation of monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and long-term plans.
- Handle administrative tasks for budgeting software/tools. Uphold and improve financial planning applications.
- Keep company’s corporate model up-to-date and assist in producing models that project long-term results for BUs. Enhance existing models and develop new ones.
- Facilitate documentation of existing and new processes and procedures, and devise recommendations for FP&A process improvement.
- Analyze financial and operational results to evaluate BUs/Company performance and provide analysis and recommendations to management. Support senior management and other corporate departments with required financial analysis and data.
- Aid in the presentation of forward-looking information to the executive team and preparation of outlook guidance disclosures in MD&A and other reports.
- Occasional travel to operations/projects to validate planning models.
- Provide training to site-level staff (as required) on new protocols and/or systems relating to planning.
- Assist in the preparation of business cases/models to support new investments, strategic and other business decisions.
- Support the Senior Manager, FP&A with any other FP&A activities/projects.
Candidate Requirements
- CPA or close to designated.
- 4 plus years of professional experience in Finance / Accounting.
- 2 years of budgeting / forecasting / modeling related experience.
- Nice to have mining industry experience but not required.
